The Sydney Kings are proud to announce that Australian big man Julian Khazzouh will return to the club for the 2015/16 National Basketball League Season.
Khazzouh states, "I am very excited to be returning home to play for the Kings. I always said once my time overseas came to an end I would only play for Sydney."
The 29 year old first joined the Sydney Kings in 2010 before departing after two seasons to further his playing career in Europe.
Prior to re-joining the Kings, Khazzouh spent three seasons with Lebanese Division A side Sagesse where he averaged 13.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
Khazzouh made his NBL debut for the West Sydney Razorbacks during 2006/07 season and finished second in Rookie of the Year voting behind Joe Ingles.
He remained with the Razorbacks during their transition into the Sydney Spirit in 2008, but left shortly after to play in the Netherlands and subsequently in Poland before returning to the NBL as a member of the newly reformed Sydney Kings.
It was during his first stint with the Kings that Khazzouh took the NBL by storm, embarking on an impressive two seasons that saw him earn two All-NBL First Team honours and a call up to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA.
Throughout his career as a Sydney King, the 209cm (6’10”) and 109kg (240lb) Khazzouh averaged 17 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 53 contests.
Sydney Kings General Manager, Rod Harys, hailed the acquisition of Khazzouh and is thrilled to have him back on board.
“This is a terrific acquisition for us. Julian has spent the past few seasons developing his game abroad, so to have one of the premier big men in Australian basketball back in the purple and gold is great news for all Kings fans.”
The talented big man joins Tom Garlepp, Angus Brandt and Jason Cadee as members of the 2015/16 Sydney Kings roster.
